The Fourteenth Goldfish
The Fourteenth Goldfish
By Jennifer L. Holm
Plot
The
fourteenth Goldfish is a story about coping with change and growing older. 11
year old Ellie’s best friend has found her passion: Volleyball. She doesn’t
spend much time with Ellie since she dedicates all her time to volleyball
practices and tournaments. Now Ellie thinks her grandfather has come back to
visit her.
Characters
Ellie’s mom
is a person that is obsessed with drama, and she’s trying to persuade her daughter
to get involved with drama.
Ellie is
the main character of the story, she always believes what she wants to believe,
and sometimes she comes off as a very stubborn person.
Ellie’s
grandfather is a scientist that is about 60 years old but he doesn’t look like
he’s 60 at all. He was obsessed with immortality, so he did a lot of
experiments in his lab related to immortality. A lawsuit put him in his
daughter (Ellie’s mom)’s care.
Settings
The story
was set in the Bay Area, in the shadow of San Francisco. (this is where the
character’s homes are located)
Your opinion
I didn’t
really have a favorite part in this story because I found it quite repetitive.
But on the good side, the characters and their dialogue are very interesting to
read. I would recommend this book to people who don’t really mind about the
author repeating things over and over again, and people who enjoy reading about
characters and their dialogue.
